TikTok is a great place to build an online community, over the years, especially since the pandemic people have harnessed the platform to grow a tightly knitted community. Like any other platform, TikTok has its rules.
Today, we will discuss the top 5 activities that could get you banned on TikTok which can results in account loss and how to avoid them.
If you are new to TikTok, or not or still trying to figure then this episode is helpful for you.
So as a TikTok user, we often hear that certain users have been banned and lost their accounts and oftentimes, not always have been found to have flawed these top 5 rules:
1. Livestreaming with people under 18:
Streaming live content on TikTok with individuals under the age of 18 goes against the TikTok terms and conditions. Parents and users have voiced concerns and TikTok has placed a lot of scrutiny on protecting children. As a result, TikTok has increased the legal age of users from 16 to 18 years old. If TikTok detects an underage on your live stream or your account is reported for having a minor on your live stream, you can get your account banned.
2. Robot tools that comment, like and DM:
In wake of AI advancement, platforms like Facebook or Instagram, support DM automation tools like Manychat, but with TikTok, this feature is not supported, so using such tools to like comment, or reply to direct messages can lead to an account ban.
Posting botlike responses or spam comments(like Tagging someone claiming to help recover banned accounts) on posts users are likely to report and in this process, both accounts involved get banned.
3. Using banned hashtags:
This is another way to surely get your account banned on TikTok. There are various banned hashtags but let’s work with the top 5 which are:
- #Adult content
- #Fake news
- #Hate Speech
- #Self-harm
- #Spam.
With these five at the top of the list and more, you need to be mindful while trying to grow your account using banned hashtags. Another one that stands out for me I have encountered a few times is #TikTokMarketing, my videos won’t move if I have that hashtag.
One effective way to stay updated is to use Google to search for these hashtags and build a list of hashtags to avoid while using TikTok. This is not an exhaustive list but it gets the job done.
4. Using banned words or phrases:
Calling people out using certain terms or phrases, basically name-calling with the intent to bully or cause harm is highly prohibited on TikTok and can lead to an immediate account ban. TikTok wants conversations to remain civil regardless of how you feel about that person. Any deviation from this rule may lead to your account being reported or TikTok flagging your comment and an immediate account ban follows through.
5. Hate speech:
