4 Strategies to get seen on TikTok
TikTok can be confusing, especially if you’re new on the platform. Trying to figure out how some people get millions of views and followers off one video and others barely get any can be stressful. I’ll share four strategies that can help you out.
1. Update your profile
Check your profile and make sure it’s well updated. To do this, go to your TikTok page, click ‘Edit profile,’ and add your personal or brand name. This is important because most new users often use names like ‘user 19995’ instead of an actual name. The TikTok audience doesn’t trust or follow accounts without an actual name. So ensure your username is set as an actual name and not random numbers.
2. Optimize your bio
SEO also matters on TikTok. When people search for certain keywords, one of the ways TikTok presents the answers is through relevant profiles, which are based on what’s in your bio. So update your bio to have information that captures what you do. For example, in my bio, I said, “I help female coaches generate more revenue using TikTok.” This clearly states what I do to my audience. So, none of the “Jesus lover,” “cat lover,” etc., these bios may be fun and quirky, but they do nothing for your business growth. Focus on what you do and who you do it for so the right audience can find and connect with you.
3. Use the LinkInBio Feature
If you have up to 1000 followers, you can put a clickable link in your profile. If you don’t have up to this number of followers, you have to wait until you do. A clickable link to your website, other social media pages, portfolio, etc., will help drive traffic from your TikTok to these other pages and build authenticity for you and trust for your audience. They’ll eventually know you’re the real deal because they can find you on other platforms.
4. Put descriptions in your videos.
The TikTok algorithm is very sensitive. The text you put on screen in your videos and the hashtags you use go a long way to getting you seen on the app. Also, when users see interesting texts on videos, it pushes them to click and engage with your content. TikTok also uses all this information to show your content to the right audience.
Bonus Tip: Growth on TikTok or any other social media platform is not instant for everyone. Given some people are lucky enough to get a viral moment that changes everything, but this is not the case for most people. For example, my growth was not instant, and I had to be patient and consistent before I started seeing consistent{continuous} growth on my account.
The TikTok algorithm is intentional with the content they push to different audience categories. This is why it’s important to choose a niche. Whether you are a financial coach, business coach, or whatever it is, you have to have a specific niche, and you should stick to it on TikTok. This way, when you start creating content on TikTok for your niche, the algorithm starts to know your content anytime someone searches for or engages with content in your niche.
The algorithm learns about you and your account and will start sending your content to people interested in your niche. This is why it’s so important for you to post consistently because soon, TikTok will realize that you’re an authority in your niche and keep showing your video to more people, and this is how people find you on TikTok.
