How To Make Money On TikTok Shop As a Creator

TikTok has more than 2 billion active monthly users and has the highest social media engagement rate per post. With these numbers in mind there are so many ways to make money on TikTok but TikTok Shop is number one right now!

The TikTok Shop has been in existence for about six months but right now things have not only skyrocketed but exploded with the amount of money that people are making utilizing TikTok shops. 

Now, if you are not familiar with TikTok,we would focus on what you need to do to get yourself ready to start a TikTok shop for creators and how to start making money right now.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PROPER UTILIZATION OF A TIKTOK SHOP

Every time a creator sells an item on a TikTok shop, they are paid a certain amount of money, this could be $1, $2, $3 or whatever commission placed on the product. There are some requirements in order to utilize a TikTok shop. Now this is not a whole lot, but if you’re brand new to TikTok, you got to meet them. Listed below are these requirements;

1. 18 years of age:

The first and most important criteria is that you have to be 18 years of age. As a TikTok user it’s expected that you already meet that requirement because typically everybody on TikTok is at least 18 years old.

2. Must have 1000 followers:

This is the second most important criteria : 1000 followers. One of the reasons why this is mandatory is  because they want you already active on the platform and the people that are successful with TikTok shops are utilizing live streams. Currently, TikTok has it to where you have to have 1000 followers in order to go live. 

3. Meet community guidelines:

If you have to have 1000 followers then your account must be in good standing, meaning that you haven’t had a whole lot of videos that you are violating TikTok’s community guidelines, that you’re in good standing. What happens when you get to a 1000 followers? Once you get to 1000 followers, you get a notification from TikTok and they invite you to join the TikTok Shop Creator Program. This invitation from TikTok allows you to promote products on TikTok shops.

4. Have posted a video in the last 28 days:

Once you meet the community guidelines, Tik Tok would want you to have posted at least one video over the last 28 days.

5. Choose popular products:

Inside the TikTok shop for creators, you can actually click into what’s called the product marketplace. The product marketplace is basically, where you can see all the different categories of products that are here on the inside of the shop. It’s actually really robust at this point in time and you get to  see all these different products. But also what you can do is that you’ll see what are the best sellers. 

6. Place them in your showcase:

Inside the product market place we have different products that are the best sellers on TikTok and you can market those if you want to. But sometimes they are actually highlighting certain products. With spotlight finds, you are shown all the products that are being highlighted.

Before we go further let’s illustrate with an example how this works. 

Item 1: a light bulb. This light is $17.59 when you buy it. TikTok says, if you promote this, we will pay you $2 per item.

Item 2: sea moss gel and it is $24.95. They’re going to pay you $7 per item. 

One of the things you want to consider is when you’re promoting something, what are people buying the most on a TikTok shop, but also what’s going to pay you the most. Okay. So then once you actually choose an item, then what you want to do from there is you want to actually add that product to your showcase. 

7. Link them to your video: 

Once a product is added to the product list you can request a free sample. With this free sample you can create what is called a shoppable video. But what you also can do is now you can see what other content creators are, the videos they have created all around that particular product. This helps you keep track of videos which have millions and millions of views on them and are probably making a significant amount of money from the process they have been promoting. This helps you with what type of content you should create around this product or products in general.

8. Link them to your livestream:

When you are ready to start creating shoppable content, it’s easier because you have been following the creators that are doing the best on TikTok so that you can have that success. This serves as a blueprint to creating strategic content for your livestreams.

If you are interested in making money through a TikTok shop, the first step to achieving this is to work towards getting to 1000 followers ASAP. But while you’re in the process of getting to 1000 followers, start following people who you see are promoting products on TikTok shops. And then you can see what is working well. 

In addition to that, instead of trying to find people, go into the TikTok shop where you can buy products and go and find the most popular products and  the most popular videos by content creators. This way you explore the strategies that they are using and apply them to yours. As a content creator making money on TikTok requires that you are intentional, strategic and consistent.
