It is 2023 and it’s time to launch your brand’s TikTok Channel!

I’ve been talking basically all month, all year so far about it. 

But specifically in this blog, I am excited because there are so many businesses and brands who are finally ready to launch their TikTok channel. 

And so today I wanted to give you five tips for launching your brand’s TikTok channel in 2023. 

I don’t want you to wait until next year.

I don’t want you to wait until summertime or until fall. 

No, we’re gonna do this right now, and today let’s talk about that. 

Now, you know, I’m biased because I’m obsessed with TikTok, but I didn’t start on TikTok. 

I started on Periscopes. Y’all remember Periscope? 

And that’s how I built my business in the beginning.

Then I was on Facebook Live, and then Instagram Live came out and I spent years on those platforms.

That was it. 

And in 2020 I got onto TikTok because God told me to get onto TikTok. 

But watching how things have evolved and grown and my business has done what it’s done, I’ve started to see like, this is what this is and it’s not going anywhere.

And with everybody mirroring themselves after TikTok, of course, I’m compelled to continue to teach people about using it.

And so now, I wanna give you some very specific things about launching your brand’s TikTok account. 

Now the first thing that I wanna talk to you about is just the power of TikTok. 

So you see me talk about it all the time like I had an episode previously. 

This one where I was talking about Chipotle and basically I was talking in a previous episode that Chipotle is changing their menu. 

They’re adding a brand new item to their menu because of TikTok.

Because somebody on TikTok started going to Chipotle and ordering a cheese quesadilla with steak and then taking their sour cream and then mixing it with their vinaigrette. 

And then they would dip it together, and people have just gone crazy about this thing. 

And so there’s a food critic who found out about it, talked about it, and then of course it blew up like crazy.

And as a result, Chipotle was like, whoa, what happened? How did this get back? 

And so now they’re adding that menu item to their menu in the month of March.

I don’t know about y’all, but Chipotle stays the same for the most part. 

They try new Chandelo flavors or whatever, but for the most part, they don’t add an entirely different menu item just because people on TikTok wanted to finagle something.

So like, is any of y’all familiar with the dragon sauce? 

So before I found out that I was lactose intolerant, we would take the hottest Chipotle sauce and you would mix it with their sour cream, and that was called the dragon sauce. 

And then you would pour it over your bowl, the greatest tasting thing on the planet.

But your girl is lactose intolerant, I think it puts me right to sleep so I don’t get that anymore! 

But they never changed the menu for that item. 

Now because of the power of TikTok, the whole menu is changing and adding that to the play. 

And so when I think about you and I think about your brand, there are a lot of opportunities there. 

First of all, it’s brand awareness.

You may not eat McDonald’s and it’s okay if you do or don’t whatever, but one thing we know about McDonald’s is not just that their shake machine is always broken. 

We all know that across the world.

But we all also know that McDonald’s is always advertising, when you don’t see anybody advertising, McDonald’s is always advertising.

And they’re not advertising because nobody knows they exist. 

They’re advertising because they want you to always think about them. 

When you’re thinking about fast food or burger or fries or whatever, they always want you to think of them.

And so one of the things about you and your brand for TikTok is this is a huge opportunity for brand awareness because there are millions of people, probably billions, that don’t even know that you and your brand exist.

But through the power of TikTok marketing and how it does with this algorithm on the For You Page, you’ve got this huge opportunity where people can get to know you and what it is you do, and what it is you offer.

Absolutely for free. 

You know, like we run paid ads all the time and people come in contact with me because of our ads, but we’ve also had millions come in contact with me because of my TikTok videos. 

Bumble didn’t know that I existed, or Vistaprint or TikTok, or QuickBooks.

None of them knew that I existed until I started marketing on TikTok, and I’ve been marketing everywhere. 

But as a result, they now know that I exist. 

And so as it pertains to you and your brand, it’s a really big opportunity because you’re marketing your business. 

It’s not the case that you’re not marketing.

You are just not marketing your business in a place that can really explode the awareness that people can have about you, your brand, and what it is that you have to offer. 

And so I know that people are still kind of in this space of like, but is my audience on TikTok? Is TikTok gonna get banned or whatever?

Listen, here’s what I’ll say about the ban. 

I highly don’t think that it’s going to get banned. 

I think there’s gonna be major restrictions that are placed on the app. 

I think that they’re gonna have to sell off the USA version to a United States company, so that way we have control over what China has access to due to security and all that type of stuff.

But I don’t think they’re gonna ban the actual app. 

I just highly doubt it. 

I just don’t think that’s gonna happen. 

But also, you know, people are saying like, is my audience really there? 

Well, I want you to answer these questions…

Have you watched TikTok videos in the last month?

Have you watched a video on TikTok in the last month? 

Have you had someone in your age group watch videos on TikTok that you are completely aware of?

And have you or somebody you know talked about their business on TikTok or talked to you about a product or service or person that they came in contact with, and now follow or love because of TikTok? 

I don’t care who you are, you could pretend, pretend all day, but you have had to answer yes to at least one of those questions. 

Maybe all of them.

And the reason is that your audience is there.

You know, every time I do a presentation and I talk to people about TikTok, the whole room stands up and says they’ve watched TikTok.

And by the end of it, I said, now how many of you are actually creating content?

It’s about 1%. 

And I said, so here’s the deal. 

Everybody in here that is over 30 stood up watching content on TikTok. 

You’re just not posting because you don’t know how. 

And so your audience is there watching, consuming, and all that every single day. 

They just are not consuming you because you’re not there on the platform.

So that’s number one, you gotta understand the power of TikTok and get started.

The second thing I wanna talk to you about is what you need to do to really get started on the account. 

The first thing is you wanna identify what type of content that you actually want to put out on the platform, 

Because sometimes people will go to TikTok or they’ll see videos on TikTok and feel like they have to be A, B, or C.

They have to look like whatever, they have to dance or be goofy or point or whatever. 

These things that they have seen that they’re like, I just don’t wanna do that.

Well, that doesn’t mean you have to do it! 

Just because you saw that or something that went viral doesn’t mean that’s what your account has to look like. 

Doesn’t mean that that’s what you have to do on a regular basis on the platform, but you have to determine what this is gonna look like for you.

Now, I do not recommend that you just take Facebook Lives and repurpose them for TikTok. 

No!

I do encourage you to think through some type of content ideation strategy. 

So for example, I know people who record YouTube videos one video a week, but they record it in a way where it’s easy for people to cut it into short-form videos.

So what does that mean? 

One of the things my editors told me because right now the office that I’m in is small and so my computer and the camera are really close to me. 

And so you can’t see a lot of dimensions in my video, like width-wise. 

And so she said, when you move into your next space, I want you to build it out to where your camera is a little bit further away.

That gives us a lot more distance from you. 

So then we can take the one video you shoot on YouTube and we can turn ’em into short clips 

And what that’s gonna do, that’s gonna cut down my content creation time, down by 75%. 

Now they’re able to take videos I  create every single day for the podcast and for YouTube in general and turn ’em into short-form clips that actually teach an audience how to strategically market and build your brand online. 

So you can do that if you wanna repurpose content for TikTok.

But you have gotta be very intentional with how everything looks and how everything is set up to make sure it looks good once you start posting it on the platform. 

The next thing you wanna make sure that you have is an updated device.

The last thing you wanna do is to try to create content on short-form video, and you got an iPhone six. 

You’re gonna wanna go ahead and update that phone, Sis!

I am not saying that you gotta have an iPhone 14, pro-Max, or whatever is out right now. 

It’s probably iPhone 18 right by now but you can’t be walking around here with an iPhone six thinking you’re gonna do a short-form video.

You also wanna have some external lighting and you wanna have a tripod.

Right now, everything looks super lit up where I am.

And the reason is that the office has some lights at the top, but I also have a ring light, a huge 18-inch ring light that is illuminating my entire setup.

And so it allows my background to just look really, really good.

Also if I am up recording something in front of that light, it also has a place where I can put my phone. 

I use the “Neewer ring light”. On Amazon, you can type in an 18-inch ring light and that’s what I use. 

It already has the phone case inside of it.

I just put my phone in there and all the things and it’s gonna make being able to record videos just awesome. 

The next thing you wanna do in this second tip is you wanna determine who is actually gonna be the face of your TikTok account because you need consistency. 

I’m not saying that it has to only be one person, but you gotta figure out what this is gonna look like for you. 

So there are some accounts I see on TikTok that are brands, and one of them started out with one person creating content, and then over the course of months, it became two people. 

And then now there are like five or six different people on this account. 

But the content is consistent and it’s always good and it’s always relatable and it’s always selling that company’s products and services.

And so you gotta determine who’s gonna be the face. 

Is it gonna be you, the owner, or is it gonna be an employee?

Is it gonna be multiple people? 

Either way, it doesn’t matter. 

My account is always mine today, but I can’t say if I transitioned my company into a more corporate brand. 

I can’t say that I wouldn’t have other faces.

It’s just today, it’s just me.

So you gotta have consistency on the account, but also the easiest way to have consistency is to make sure that you know who’s gonna be creating content. 

And that person, they’re just, that’s just what they do. 

They may not be their only job but that is a consistency of this is what they do and all the things.

Now what you also wanna do as a best practice in this same second tip is just wanna make sure that you have a plan.

That you have a plan on what you’re gonna be doing there. 

Who you’re gonna be targeting and what you’re gonna be offering. 

Are you gonna be selling products and services all the time?

Are you gonna be focusing on lead generation? 

What is gonna be your thing? 

In my bio on TikTok, normally I have a link tree, which gives people an option to be able to grab our free tools and or purchase products. 

Now, when we are offering my course called Monetize The Tok, which is a mastermind teaching you how to use TikTok marketing for your business.

When we are in the process of offering that, we only have one link there. 

And so that link on my bio will lead directly to that. 

So when we have that time, when it is open, which is right now, you’re able to click and it’ll take you right there to the page where you can enroll.

Otherwise, we have a link tree, which gives different options. 

And, we change that out as soon as we close the doors to our course, and then we go back to our regular link tree. 

Now the third thing you wanna do is you wanna make sure that you’re only sharing content that is of value to the brand.

So what does that mean? 

So if your brand is very feminine as it pertains to flowers and pinks, and it is talking to people who love lipstick and makeup and hair, like dainty in a sense or whatever.

So then, you have to make sure that if the main thing you focus on is makeup and lipstick and, and all that type of stuff then you can’t be creating content that is around political content.

If your brand is about lip gloss, lipstick, and dainty stuff, but you have a political opinion, then you have to be aware of who your brand is.

This is what we talk about. This is what we focus on. This is what we don’t talk about. It’s what we don’t focus on.

I am not very political whatsoever. 

I am a registered independent, however, I am also African American and I am a Christian. 

And as a Christian, as I am, there are certain things that I do talk about.

I do talk about some of the challenges that minorities face. 

I do talk about the need to vote. 

I do talk about the need to pray and talk to God about voting, about not just voting because it’s this or because it’s that, but just praying because God knows everything and He can help the person that he’s gonna bring into the office.

Whether you agree with who’s in there or not. I say pray and let’s just make a decision that way. 

And so that is my brand and that’s been my brand’s position forever. 

You know, I just always have been that way and so you won’t see me kind of going against Democrat or Republican, or you just won’t see me doing certain things because one, that’s not who I am.

And that’s not how our brand shows up.

So you gotta make sure you are very intentional with the value of the content of your brand on the platform.

Now the next thing that you wanna do with launching your brand’s TikTok channel is, of course, you gotta make sure that you focus on helping people with?

Like specifically if you are a female coach or course creator, how do you help people? 

Because on this account, you wanna be helping people with that because you’re gonna rise to fame in a sense through the algorithm pushing out your content. 

And people are gonna get used to you and what it is that you talk about and what it is that you do.

And they’re gonna come to your content, to your account for that, for those things. 

And if you are over here one day and over here the next day, then you’re not creating a consistency or a need for what it is you have to offer. 

So one of my online friends, Dr. Marie Claire, teaches menopause, perimenopausal, and menopause. 

And she’s constantly teaching women, educating women and all the things regarding that.

And so if we have a question about all these things going on in our bodies then guess what.

If there’s somebody specific I wanna go talk to, I won’t go to her because it is all she talks about. 

That’s all she is known for.

Every time I wanna see good food to eat in Vegas, immediately I go to Keith Lee’s page.

That’s all he does is he reviews food in Vegas. That is all he does!

There’s a girl in Paris, an American in Paris, and she’s constantly talking to you about what is happening in Paris as an American, and it’s preparing me for my trip when I go to Paris.

And so on my account, you’re gonna hear me talk about business and marketing, how to make marketing, how to make money in your business, and all the things you need to do to have success in your business.

That’s what you’re gonna hear on that account. 

There was a time when I was all over the place and I was just like, “all right, you gotta get focused cuz nobody is paying attention to you being all over the place”. 

And then that’s gonna help you to be able to sell your products and services a lot easier.

That is how we have been able to generate hundreds of thousands of dollars selling our course, Monetize The Tok, and how one of our students, Mercedes, is able to generate over a million dollars in revenue. 

Year because on her account, all she talks about is mystery shopping. 

That’s it. 

And she has a company teaching people how to become successful mystery shoppers.

And so people aren’t getting these random things on her account. 

They’re just getting that about her as a mom, as a mystery shopper. 

That is it. 

And so if you’re gonna sell products and services and courses very similar to what we do with my mastermind, then TikTok is definitely the place that you wanna do that.

But you gotta make sure that you’re very clear about all the things.

And so if I position myself properly, then I can go and reach out to that brand and say, “Hey, I’ve been teaching people about podcasting, about this microphone”. 

Would love to have an affiliate link or do some type of collaboration or whatever.

And then they can go and search me out and go, “oh, she is actually talking to our target audience”

So we’re gonna be teaching about how I do all of that and how we’ve made a million dollars so far from a TikTok platform. 

But more importantly, our students have done it.

Faster making a million dollars, and they’re doing it over and over and over again. 

And then point number five is you want to learn ways to engage your audience on the TikTok platform. 

Because here’s the deal, the thing that all algorithms want, they want engagement. 

They don’t just want people watching the video, they want people commenting on the video.

They want people to like the video. They want people to take action every time they’re seeing your videos. 

Because the more active people take, the more your video will continue to get pushed out to other people. 

The number one way to get engagement on your video is to ask people a question and they will tell you what they’re thinking.

I give tips all the time, or I say, TikTok has this new feature, and at the end of the video I will say, “What do you think about that?” 

And people will chime in and say what they think about that.

Some of them like it. Some of them hate it. Some of them like me. Some of them hate me.

But the engagement is happening because I have asked them.

A question could be, are you having problems with this?

What’s your struggle with going from a meat eater to a vegan? 

What’s your struggle with going from eating cheese to being dairy free? 

Whatever your thing is, what’s your struggle with makeup? 

But the more you are asking people and engaging and inviting them to engage, the more likely they are to engage and then you’ll have even more success. 

But also what happens is that once people engage in your content, you can go and engage back with them, and that’s the opportunity for you to be able to say, “Send me a DM, grab the link on my, or something like that.”

Or just serve them so well that they come and find you and say, “I wanna work with you”. 

But you have to give people those opportunities by inviting them to engage.

These five websites feel illegal to know if you want to grow on TikTok!

First, ads.tiktok.com/business/creatorcenter

Now here on TikTok, they are giving you the goldmine strategy for creating videos on the TikTok platform because a lot of times we feel like we have to be super creative and a genius, but we really don’t have to.

You can just come to this website and let me show you what is actually happening here.

So this is gonna show you, first of all, the top-performing ads on the TikTok platform.

When you click on Get Started, it’s gonna show you, you can choose whatever country you’re in, state or what have you, your industry, and all the different things.

And this literally is showing you these are the top-performing ads on TikTok right now. 

So if you’re looking for what type of things you should be having in your ads on TikTok, then you definitely wanna make sure that you are using this particular website.

 It’s gonna save you so much time, so much energy, and so much money.

Not only that, it’s gonna show you the trends. 

When you hover over this, you’re gonna see where you can click on the top hashtags, top songs, top creators, and all the things. 

So let’s click on the top hashtags. 

Once you click on that, now you can see all of these different things that are the top-performing hashtags right now over the last seven days.

But not only that, you can do the last seven days, the last 30 days, or the last 120 days. 

Then you can click on the top songs, you can click on the top creators. 

And I’m telling you, this is just really gonna be extremely beneficial for you as you’re creating on TikTok. 

But not only that, but if you click on TikTok videos, now these are the top-performing videos on the TikTok platform.

The second website is socialblade.com. 

Now, this website is gonna let you spy on different creators so that you can see how frequently they’re posting on the platform. 

And how frequently they are going. 

So we just saw where you have people like James Charles, which are the top-performing creators on the app right now.

And so we’re just gonna go ahead and we’re gonna search James Charles here on the platform. 

And this is going to show you what is happening with him right now. 

So you’re gonna see how many followers he has, how many uploads he has, and what he has going on across the different platforms. 

This is a great, great, great website if you wanna see creators that are like you, that are in space and you wanna be able to spy on them.

So we can also search for me if you wanna do that. 

So let’s do a quick search for my name. 

And now this is gonna show you what I have going on on TikTok right now. 

You can see what’s happening on Twitter, you can see what’s happening on TikTok, and Instagram, and you can see what is happening with me on YouTube at this very moment.

Third, you have snaptik.app. 

And this one, a lot of people on TikTok are familiar with because this is how you’re gonna be able to download your TikTok video without the watermark.

It’s also gonna allow you to take those TikTok videos and to be able to repurpose them on YouTube shorts, Pinterest idea pins, Facebook reels, as well as on Instagram.

All you have to do is copy the link from your TikTok video, paste it inside here, and download it, and then you are gonna be able to share your video. 

As creators, the last thing we wanna do is to have to create five different versions of the same video when we can record just one, put it on TikTok, and then download it without the watermark.

So this is a quick, fast, and easy way to be able to do that. 

Fourth is answerthepublic.com, which is going to allow you to be able to get content ideas for days. 

So you can actually just search a particular topic or brand and it’s gonna give you so many content ideas. 

So for example, type in here “carbonated water”. 

If we put carbonated water in here, what’s happening is it’s coming up with all the different questions or things that people are searching and looking for as it pertains to carbonated water today. 

Now, this could be around fitness, could be around makeup, it could be around marketing, YouTube, or whatever it is.

But it’s really gonna give you some ideas. 

So as you can see here, we have 385 results. 

And if you go here, you will see all the different things people want to know about carbonated water.

“Which carbonated water is the best?”

 “Which sparkling water is the best?”

 “Why carbonated water is good for you?”

“Are carbonated water bad?”

“Can carbonated water cause constipation?”

 All these different things you can see here are gonna give you so many content ideas for you to create when it’s time to create TikTok videos. 

And the last one is Stan.Store. 

This is gonna allow you to create your own store so that you can have a “Link in Bio” and turn your bio into a cash making machine. 

So this could be where in your stand store where you do your virtual products. 

You could have digital products or consulting. 

This is where you can have affiliate links if you’re marketing things you have on Amazon, or let’s just say you’re working with a brand and you’re doing a brand collaboration.

And you need to have their “link in bio” where you could have this in your own “link in bio”. 

Oftentimes for me, I work with brands, but we have our own products and services, so we will just change out our stan.store or link tree to have the top link being for the brand and the rest of the links being for us.

And so stan.store is a great way to turn your profile and your bio into that cash-making machine.

Have you ever gotten a prophetic word and you’re like, YES! 

God says I am gonna have this, or this is gonna happen to me, and you’re like seven years later and it still hasn’t come to pass, and you’re like, “False prophet!”

You’re having all these emotions about people. 

Well, listen, I completely understand. I have so many prophet prophetic words that I have received over the years that still have yet to come to pass. 

And today I just wanna walk you through how I process it. 

In this blog, we’re talking about prophetic words and when they don’t come to pass.

So I have these moments with God when I’m just like, Where are You? 

I thought you said that this was gonna happen, and I thought you said that this was gonna happen. 

And honestly, sometimes I just get very, very angry and frustrated. 

But I also just have to bring myself back down the earth.

Because some of these words that I got came from people that said, whatever it was they said, that they felt like God was saying and He could or could not have been saying it.

I’ll give you an example. 

So one time somebody asked me to come out to whatever town it was, I flew out there and they had a bunch of people.

They were at their house and they were like praying and laying hands and prophesying and all this stuff.

And while I’m sitting there, they just kind of start prophesying over me. 

The person did and she’s prophesying all this stuff and I’m like recording all this stuff that she’s saying and some of it just seems really farfetched.

Because it had dates and all this stuff on it, I was like, “wow, this person is so accurate.”

Honey, that time and comin’ went,

It was like, “you’re gonna meet a man and you’re gonna meet him July of next year and you guys are gonna have these kids.” 

And I was like, wait, wait, wait. 

Now, this was like after I got divorced. 

So I’m like, I could see if she was like prophesying like right around that time when I was like dating my ex or whatever.

But, mmm. 

But I believed it!

You know because it was like, you just believe it. 

Those things did not come to pass.

That doesn’t mean I won’t be anybody. 

It just meant that she said specifics, date, time, and all that didn’t happen. 

But also I have had other prophetic words, where a girl comes to me and said that God says that “your business is about to explore this summer”. 

I don’t even see it. 

I don’t even see the possibility of that. 

And kaboom!

My business exploded that summer. 

And so that was super accurate and it came to pass. 

But what do we do when we have these words and we feel we’ve got them and we feel like they were confirmed and they were like hard confirmations?

You may have had a dream or a vision, and you really, really know that you heard God about it 

But what do we do with it? 

Well, my honest answer is I don’t know. 

And so what do we do when a word has not come to pass?

That is the answer that I feel like I potentially have and I’ll just kind of share myself and what I’m doing with the words that I’ve received and then have not come to pass yet. 

So one of the words that I have received has been in regards to remarriage or whatever.

And not to say that I was ready to remarry as soon as I left my ex.

I mean, No, I wanted to go on a healing journey. 

I just did. 

We’re going on eight years now since I’ve been divorced.

So I’ve been divorced, and I have watched all these people get married, get divorced, get remarried, get re-divorced, get married again.

And I’m just like, “that’s a whole lot of people”.

It’s like, what’s going on? 

As I find myself in the comparison game of, “well, why is it happening for them?” 

Why is everybody proposing to them and all this stuff? 

And you know, what I have and am continuously processing is, “Okay, here’s what God has said.”

Here is where I am, right? 

I’m holding up two different hands, one hand is on the left and one hand is on the right.

Here’s what God said on the left, and here is what’s currently happening on the right and in the middle, I don’t even see how the left and the right are going.

And let’s just talk about the remarriage part. 

What I have been doing and processing and saying to myself is, every time that I walk through a different stage in my life, I am like, “Would this have been better by myself or better or easier or harder or whatever with someone?” 

So for example, I was for years focusing on getting making my credit better.

Because for the longest time, I just had super bad credit.

I mean, just super, super, super bad credit.

And a couple of months ago I was looking at my credit score and I was like, “Oh, wow, look at my credit score.”

Go Keenya, go you!

And I said to myself, “would I have loved to have gone through this process with someone or without them?”

I’m really glad I did this without them because it’s kind of embarrassing when you have like super bad credit because of your own choices. 

That’s embarrassing!

I would tell a dude, whatever, you know what I mean? But it was like certain things I can unpack and like myself.

And then when I think about my healing journey that I’ve been on healing from divorce, healing my childhood and all. 

And I think about some of the really hard, hard times that I’ve had in therapy for weeks and months and months. 

Coming out of that, I’m like, “Am I healing better without a person, or would’ve been better with a person?”

And my honest, honest thing is without ’em because there’s nobody in my house. 

I can cry and wail and be angry and be whatever.

And there’s nobody there that can hear or bit of shame.

It’s like, I can do this.

And right now I’m navigating the health journey of the fibroids of my uterus and the system of ovaries.

And as I’m navigating that right now, I am saying to myself, “Am I glad that I’m doing this without a significant other, or whether I had rather done this with a significant other.” 

And I have two feelings. 

One feeling is I would love to have had somebody that just be there with me with each appointment and that I can be when I have surgery.

Just can be there with me through this journey or whatever. 

But also the part of me is like, “but I would love to have like already gone through the journey, been in the healing physical process, and then meet somebody.”

There’s a part of me that’s like, I would rather have gone through this painful journey or whatever, not in a relationship.

Because the only person I have to think about is me. 

I don’t have to think about him. 

 

It’s just me and my cats that’s it. 

And then when I think about what God has told me about finances and my influence, it all sounds good and whatever, but I’m like, “Am I glad God didn’t give me $10 million in my checking account?”

But a part of me is like, “Hey, if I had 10 million in my accounts, I could have all the different people that I wanna have on my company and all this different stuff.”

But also with $10 million, there comes $10 million of business knowledge, experience, and understanding of taxes and working with the right people, and having a level of understanding of all these things.

So, the optimistic side of me is, there are these words that God has given me and He has invited me on a journey of, “Can you trust Me?” 

Sometimes, “No, I don’t trust You.”

I’m laughing, but I’m being serious. 

Sometimes I’m like, “No, I don’t trust You.”

I don’t trust You with this, I have been believing and trusting and You’re not coming through. 

I just don’t, I don’t, I just don’t. 

And then sometimes I’m like, “I do trust You.” 

You have proven this and this and this and this and this. 

You have proven trustworthy. 

So I need to be able to believe that You can be trusted with this.

What do you do when you’ve got a prophetic word? 

And it still hasn’t come to pass yet? 

The religious answer would be Trust God which is it’s biblical, but my empathetic heart says, to Talk to God because it’s easy to trust Him when it’s something that you’ve already seen before.

A lot of times we have these prophetic words of things we have not seen before. 

Big things or whatever things we really, really hope for.

When it’s that big and it’s taken forever to come to paths, it’s really, really hard to trust. 

And so what I have been doing, what I am doing is I’m talking to God.

When I’m like, “Oh God, I need you to heal my body from what I’m dealing with and the way I want you to heal me.”

“God, I am believing and saving myself for marriage, remarriage, and da da da da.” 

I just have to talk to Him and, I feel like I habit on this journey of mastering friendship with God. 

And when I think about what that looks like, friendship with God for me is being able to tell Him what I’m thinking no matter what it is. 

And no matter how many times I’ve told Him. 

So like my best friend, if she comes to me with a situation and she’s come to me about it multiple times.

And that’s my best friend. 

And we always talk about it together. 

As long as it’s not annoying the crap outta me or whatever, we will continuously talk about it. 

Coz that’s my friend!

And that’s just what we do.

And so when I think about it with God, I’m always like, “Okay, if He’s my best friend, much better than my best friend, then that means I can talk to Him about all of this”.

He is not annoyed with me that I keep coming to Him with it, that He is actually happy.

That I’m coming to Him with it because we’re not just friends, He’s God the father. 

And so fathers don’t typically get annoyed that we keep coming to them. 

Fathers typically are glad you’re coming. 

And so that’s my answer. 

When you have a word that has yet to come to pass, Yes, trust God, but talk to Him. 

Get His perspective. Get His mindset on it. Get His vision for it. 

Ask Him what is it that he wants you to know about that word that you don’t know. 

Ask Him, is there anything you need to be doing?

That continues the journey of that word.

So me not getting remarried to somebody random, just to say that I’m married is the continuation of having a good husband, a good marriage.

I gotta stay on that journey in that  and stay close to God

And not just be willy-nilly doing whatever it is I wanna do.

Why hasn’t that prophetic word come to pass yet

Have you ever gotten a prophetic word and you’re like, YES!  God says I am gonna have this, or this is gonna happen to me, and you’re like seven

Growing a brand on TikTok does not have to be hard, but you do have to be intentional and strategic.

You guys know that I recently talked about how I launched a second account on TikTok, so I could be more of my personality, more of all the things Keenya Kelly and not the marketer.

And as a result, I’m watching that account grow a lot faster than my business account because that one is way more intentional about the audience than when I first got started on TikTok.

And so on this blog, we’re gonna talk about Five strategies that your brand needs to do and put in place in order to have success on TikTok.


In case you didn’t know, I have two accounts. My main account is @KeenyaKelly, which has 490,000 followers. 

We’ve been building that for the last three years.

Then I have my Second account, which is called the @KeenyaKellyBrand. 

That account is more so focused on me as a person and not me as a marketer. 

And so I’m able to position myself as an influencer to work with brands in so many different areas versus only those that are in the business type of arena on my main account.

And so I wanted to give you five of the strategies that I use on both accounts and that I also use with our private clients.

So let’s go ahead and get into it. 

Some of the things that people say on TikTok all the time is that you don’t need to choose a niche, but I need to like, “Okay. Let’s just take TikTok out of the picture”.

 In general, when you have a business, when you’re trying to sell a product or service or reach a certain group of people, you have to have some sort of niche.

So a person that cooks on TikTok, cooking is their niche or a business; Someone that has hair care products is their business; Someone that is a comedian on TikTok comedy is their business.

And so you have to choose some type of niche to have success in anything, whether that’s in your business or if that’s on the TikTok platform form.

Okay, so let’s bring TikTok back into play. 

The first thing that you wanna focus on is a niche.

You’ve gotta figure out what it is that you’re gonna be doing on the TikTok platform. 

Now I’m talking to you as a business owner, so you already are clear on what it is that you do and who you do it for.

And so it’s really important to know this.

“That your brand does not have to be somebody different”. 

You don’t have to focus on another group of people if you don’t want to. 

You don’t have to create a brand new product for the people that are on TikTok because truth be told, there are millions and millions and millions of people on TikTok that are on Instagram and on Facebook or may even have left those platforms for TikTok. 

And so your same audience is there. 

It is just you’re just creating a little bit differently. 

So you have to make sure that you focus on a niche. 

We all have heard of Dr. Pimple Popper. 

And what does she do? 

She doesn’t talk about plastic surgery. You don’t see her talking about BBLs. 

You only see that account if you’re interested in Dr.Pimple Popper, watching them pop pimples. 

That is all you are gonna get there.

 So for example, you’ve got someone like Tiffany Haddish, who is a comedian.

You’re not really gonna see Tiffany Haddish for the most part right now, in any kind of serious role because she is just so funny and she is naturally funny the way that she is.

She just matches in a comedic role. 

So for you and for your brand, if you are gonna have success on TikTok with your brand, you’ve gotta make sure that you are focusing on your niche and on your niche audience. 

And that is how you are gonna have the greatest amount of success, not only with the amount of followers but being able to get your desired result.

Because your desired result as a brand is “leads” to your business and to your products and services. 

That’s it! 

You don’t really care if you get to a million followers. 

You really want the people to buy your products and services. 

That is all you want. 

And the way to do that is to focus on your niche.

The second thing you wanna focus on is you’ve gotta be intentional about how your content is structured.

When people go into the TikTok platform, they’ve got a second and a half before somebody may scroll away and watch somebody else. 

You have to think about the beginning, middle, and ending of your video before you ever hit the record.

You have to draw people in.

Your content has to be structured in a way where they have this need for you as they’re watching you

Or they have this need to tell others about who you are and what it is you do and how you can help them. 

Because a lot of times people don’t realize that the reason why videos go viral is that there’s some type of draw-in from what is happening in that video.

And then there’s a need because of what happened in that video for people to share their content with a friend.

Now, we don’t particularly care about going viral, but my point in saying that is when people watch our videos, we wanna have that viral type of effect that causes people to be drawn into what it is that we have to say.

And that causes them to ask questions and to have this feeling and belief that, You are their problem solver.

Oftentimes, when I’m teaching people about strategies for increasing revenue in their business or working with brands, I’m positioning myself in a way with my expertise that I’m good at.

I’m positioning myself in a way where the viewer is saying to themselves, “oh my God, this is good information” 

They’re not worried about me, on how I look and on how my background looks.  

They’re getting so much value with the thing that I’m talking about and what I’m teaching them. And now they are drawn into me, my content.

They also probably have a question about the thing that I’m saying which causes them to engage and comment, and then oftentimes it causes them to follow me. 

They end up going into my bio, and grabbing our free training or joining our 3-day challenge or something like that. 

That is often what happens as I draw people into my content.

And that’s not like I’m trying to manipulate people. 

No. 

I’m teaching people what I know and giving them incredible value, but I’m positioning it in a way where I’m teaching them and they’re like, “this is my go-to person for TikTok tips for business and marketing tips” 

I want more of her. 

I’m gonna follow and I’m gonna opt-in and I’m gonna purchase whatever it is she’s selling.

So you wanna make sure that your content is structured in a way that does that for your people. 

The third thing you can do to position your brand on the TikTok platform for growth

And now here’s my disclaimer. 

You don’t have to do this to have success, but I’ve just given you a tip, just in case you wanna use it.

If you wanna research any trends that are happening on TikTok that you can apply to your brand.

There’s this trend, this sound where I believe the person was like calling somebody and they were stuck on hold. 

And we all have that like “hold music”. 

You call the doctor’s office and you have that whole music.

And so there’s this sound on TikTok and it goes, “even when the sky comes falling, even when the sun don’t shine. I got Faith in you”. 

And I now listen, that’s a real person’s song, but the sound on TikTok is somebody singing it. 

They’re like, they’re holding their phone. They’re just like, “even when the sky comes falling, even when the sun don’t shine. I got Faith in you”. 

And so that became a thing on TikTok!

But it also became a thing because there’s this little effect on TikTok that shows only the eyes and the mouth.

So when you hear that sound on TikTok, you usually are seeing eyes and a mouth and then text on screen. 

And so for example, I love Chipotle, so I’m always talking about Chipotle. 

Chipotle can use this in a way of somebody sitting in their car waiting for 9:00 AM when Chipotle opens. 

Or somebody that’s like sitting at their desk at work and they’re like, “even when the sky comes falling, even when the sun don’t shine”, while waiting for lunchtime, because they brought Chipotle to work or for lunch.

And so, when you think about these things, they seem really dumb. 

But if it’s a thing that is happening on TikTok and there is a way to apply that particular trend to what it is your business and your brand does, then that’s something that you can utilize because it’s part of the culture.

People understand it.

And again, as I said in point number two, it draws people in, right? 

So there have been so many times where I have seen an ad on TikTok from a major brand, and they use some type of sound or something they said in a video that was an ad, and like a person that’s not on TikTok doesn’t get it, but they said it in their ad video and it made you go.

What’d they know about that? 

Because you’re like, “the McDonald’s, just talk about the Busted challenge or whatever it is.”

We as people that create content on TikTok, there’s a culture there.

And so if you’re learning how to use these trends on the TikTok platform to apply to your business and brand, you’re gonna find yourself with an audience of people that are like, you’re cooler than other people.

So when I was at a Mastermind here in San Diego and one of the ladies said, “we’re in leadership and we teach ABCDEFG but we’re very fun people, but our marketing is very boring. How can we come on TikTok and have fun with the content that we create?” 

And I’m like, “it’s very easy. I just have to show you what that looks like”

And that person gets it. 

That person is like, “yeah, we’re tired of having our marketing look so boring when we really are not boring people” 

And, that is what I’m saying as it pertains to trends. 

The fourth thing that you can do to position your brand for growth on TikTok is you can partner with other creators and channels on the platform, meaning that you could do a live stream on TikTok. 

Like for me, I teach TikTok strategies for businesses. 

I can partner up with another content creator who teaches TikTok and we can do a live stream together where we take questions that are pre-approved, that are pre-submitted, and we answer them, and we give people our business advice.

Giving people our business guidance or we could partner with a creator who is an influencer and they make their money through brand collaborations. 

But I’m a business consultant who also teaches TikTok.

I could collaborate with an influencer, and then her audience or his audience is here, and then my audience is here.

This influencer could be asking me questions in a way where she or he is trying to learn how to not just make money from brands, but how to also be a course creator, a consultant, or whatever, and make even more money, long-term automated money without having to create content. 

But also that influencer, I could actually have a list of questions for them, asking them..

“How do they position themselves to be able to make X amount of dollars from brands?” 

“What do some of their best brand’s contracts look like?”

“What do some of their worst contracts look like?”

“ What are some of their best experiences?”

“What are some of the dos and don’ts?”

“If you get invited on a brand trip in a different state or a different country or whatever?”

What happens is that when you go live on the platform, your audience sees it, but then when you go live with the other creator, their audience sees it.

And so both of their audiences are seeing you all at the same time. 

So not only will you end up growing your account, but you’ll just get more visibility to potentially more of your target customers than you could have if you did not collaborate with this creator. 

You can also do that outside of livestream.

You can do that with a duet, where you all have already thought it through and all that, and you create a video and they’re gonna duet your video. 

Or you guys can just do things offline where you’ve created a part of the video and they’ve created a part of the video and you splice the video together to be able to put it out on the platform in that way. 

There are so many things you can do to be strategic in growing your brand and business on the TikTok platform, and collaboration is definitely one of them. 

We all know that collaborating is huge anyway, but that’s definitely one that you can do.

And then the last thing that you wanna do for this is you wanna focus on valuable content, which is very similar to what I was talking about.

How your content is structured. 

You wanna have valuable content. 

When I say that about valuable content you wanna be serving your audience through whatever it is you do.

So let’s just say you are a perfume brand.

Obviously, your audience cannot smell you, but in what way can you create content that educates people on.

Let’s just say this, this scent does X, Y, and Z, or this flower and this whatever does X, Y, and Z, or here’s how to pair this flower bomb or whatever.

For Valentine’s Day, you could be having an influencer who she’s like getting dressed for a date and she’s putting together this outfit with this, with this, with this, and she’s got whatever perfume she adds to that.

Oftentimes for me as a creator, I’m often teaching people based on the questions people have asked me in my comment section.

So oftentimes people will see me post something on TikTok or somewhere else, and they’ll come to the comment section and ask me a question. 

That’s a great piece of content to create because somebody’s asking about that instead of me, who always has to think about new content.

I just take what’s already people are already asking me, 

But I can also do a search on the TikTok platform to see what are the top-performing pieces of content in the business, in online marketing, in course creation, and in TikTok marketing.

What are the top things people are asking or searching for? 

And when I do things like that and create that type of content, it’s valuable because the market has already said, “Hey, I have a question about this”

All of us have questions about this, and if you answer this, you’re gonna answer this question for hundreds, maybe thousands, and potentially even millions of people who have that same question.

And so for you, if you are saying to yourself, I’m gonna use 2023 and I’m gonna use TikTok to grow my business

EP: 196 5 Branding Strategies For Growth On TikTok

Welcome back to another topic under our series Top 10 things that every entrepreneur needs to do this year, and we are on episode number seven.

If you have made it this far, meaning you have read all articles from episodes one through six.

And then we’ve got just a couple more to go. 

And the whole goal of these episodes is to give you exactly what you need to kick off the year 2023.

So in episode seven, we’re talking about cleaning up your email list.

We’ve got about 20,000 people on our email list, and I know!

I know that sounds all sexy but if I could be honest, there are probably like 10,000 people there that are just trashed. 

I guarantee there are like 10,000 plus people that are on this email list that are there because of some import we did years ago.

When I had my hair show return to the curls back in like 2007 to 2010 people that are there for my branding design agency, there’s like all these people that are there that care nothing about TikTok marketing.

And it probably explains why we go to SPAM so much because people keep marking us as spam.

One of the things that I decided to do at the end of 2022 was to clean up my email list.

Give people an opportunity to stay if they want to be there and go if they don’t want to. 

The service that I use right now, which is Kartra, they are not necessarily basing my pricing off of the amount of people on my email list.

But I remember when I was with a company called Convert Kit, and every time our list would go up a number, then the price would increase for how much we have to pay for our monthly mailing subscription. 

And I know that there are many services out there like that. 

Convert Kit’s a great service, a hundred percent.

But for me, at the time when we were moving to Kartra, I didn’t wanna continue paying for more and more people on my email list because I knew my list was gonna continue growing. 

I also knew that we had thousands of people who we probably should remove, but I didn’t know how to remove them.

And so, what we have done is we have just gone through this process of removing people from the email list. 

We sent an email just saying, “Hey, this is who we are, this is what we offer. If you’re not interested in this type of content anymore, click this”. “If you are interested in content like this, Click this”. 

And then that lets us know who wanted to be here, and who didn’t, and then we cleaned up our list that way.

And so for you, one of the reasons why you wanna clean up your email list is because you want the right people to get your content when you’re emailing.

You want the right people who are interested in you and what it is that you offer. 

You don’t want a bunch of random people on your email just to be there on your email list.

Just so you can say, I have 10,000 people or I have a hundred thousand people. 

No, we wanna have the right people in front of us at all times so that when we send an email, we get a hundred percent open rate or whatever.

When we are selling something we are selling to the right people that have said, “Hey, I want to be here and I wanna purchase this from you at some point”.

Does that make sense? 

And so I, if you have not taken a look at your database of people that are on your email list. 

Then I wanna challenge you this year, this first part of this year, to take some time and figure out how you can get the bulk of the people that don’t wanna be there off of your email list.

Now, this is not a task that I feel like you should do. 

I feel like you can actually hire someone to assist you with this. 

You can go on www.upwork.com  and then post a job for someone, email list clean up, or whatever your email system is, and then have them work with you on cleaning up your email list 

Again, so that when you’re sending out your newsletter, when you’re sending out your offers, you’re sending it out to your perfectly aligned list.

The people that say, I want Keenya, I want TikTok marketing, I want what Keenya has to offer and the way that she offers it.

I’m saying my name, but you know, you can insert yourself in the mix of that. 

And so that’s one of the things that you wanna do this year to kick off this year for yourself.

Hopefully, I do, because I’m saying this and I could get a hundred or 200 messages from this.

EP: 187 Part 7 – Clean up your email list

Here’s how we made over a hundred thousand dollars on TikTok!

So first you wanna get very clear on what it is you want to offer on TikTok. 

Now, last year we made over $199,000 from Stripe by selling our products and services, and so here is what we did. 

So first I got clear on what the products and services we offer. 

Mostly it is our digital courses, and then some of it is one-on-one consulting. Then we got extremely clear on who we wanted to offer our services to. 

The next thing we did was we went ahead and started creating content, serving our particular audience because we wanted to attract certain people to us so that they would buy from us. 

And so we focus on female coaches and course creators, and we teach and serve them on our account. 

Then we provided them with a couple things. 

There is a link in my bio, and so when you click on that link, it’s gonna give you two options. One to grab a free or to purchase our course. 

And so some people go ahead and grab the free training, then we serve them and all the things. 

And then once they are served with the free training, then we make the offer to our course. 

Now the second part is that we already have the course there available because some people want to go ahead and purchase the course.

And so you wanna make sure that you’re clear on what it is that you’re gonna do. 

As it pertains to how we make all the different sales, one of the things that we know about business and about people is that some people are ready to buy from you right now.  

But most people are not ready to buy just like that, especially if a product is a $100, $200, $300, or $500. 

They actually wanna go through a process with you. 

We understand that and so we create free trainings, free guides and all that through navigating business and navigating TikTok.  

So that when someone opts in to my email list, they’re able to get something that will serve them, get something that will give them a quick win and then when we’ll make the offer they are more likely to purchase.

So for example, we have what’s called our 10 TikTok templates, and it is a guide that gives them 10 videos that I have recorded that are posted on my page. 

We give them links to those videos, and then we also give them tutorials on how to use those videos for their business. 

And so that is free, and it’s a guide for them.

Now, most people, when they first come to TikTok, they have no idea how to create videos or how to use trends for their business. 

And so we give them that with that particular guide, and that’s gonna serve them, give them that quick win, and start to build some trust and some credibility. 

Now, oftentimes what happens from there is that some people say, “well, what else do you have?”

And then that’s when they’re going through this process that we have created through automation. Which then offers them either access to our Create on TikTok course or Monetize the Tok Course.  

Or it may invite them into our 3-Day TikTok for Business Challenge. 

And so once they go through the free thing that they got and they get the win, then we make an offer through automation on email.

And most people, once they’ve gotten that win and they wanna work with us even more. 

They make the purchase of that particular product. And now they have gone through the funnel in that regard. 

From there, we continue to serve them on the inside of the course, and then when they finish with the course, we determine what they need next.

Sometimes people wanna work with me one-on-one, and other times they wanna just keep focusing on what’s in the course. 

Now the second part of the funnel is that people say, “I am just ready to buy.” 

They come in contact with me because of a video they see on TikTok and they click the link on my bio and they are just ready to buy.

And so they make a purchase. Oftentimes, people will join our 3 Day TikTok for Business Challenge, and then from there they wanna enroll in my mastermind which is called Monetize the Tok, which is a big detailed business course that comes with group coaching with me and all the things, and then they end up purchasing that product.

But some people say, I actually wanna work with you one-on-one. 

And so then as they’re going through the funnel, they’re able to then purchase a one-on-one call once they’ve finished that first course or once they’ve gone through our 3 Day TikTok for Business Challenge. 

And so that is kind of what happens on a regular basis.

Now the last thing which I was not likely to include in that $199,000 is we also work with brands. 

And so on my account on TikTok, I create content on a regular basis that is kind of family friendly. 

Meaning that when a brand would wanna work with me, we won’t have to worry about me cursing or doing anything crazy.

And so brands reach out to us, just like TikTok. They reach out to us and say, “Hey, we want you to create some videos for us and we’ll pay you x amount of dollars” 

Personally, I have worked with TikTok, I think four or five times directly with them creating content for business owners. 

And so they reach out and then I create videos and then they pay us for that.

And so we’ve made close to $70,000 from TikTok.  The actual company, through creating videos for them. 

And this is kind of an amazing process to get that type of money working with TikTok. 

And so the reason why that happens is because we’re creating content and we’re intentional about it.

And so those are two ways that you can make money on the TikTok platform. 

My encouragement to you is to be very intentional. 

What are your intentions?  I mean you wanna make a hundred thousand dollars, but how do you wanna make a hundred thousand dollars? 

If it’s through brand deals, then you gotta be very intentional and strategic with your content. 

Connect with some influencer marketing agencies. There’s hundreds of them out there. 

Or maybe even get yourself an agent. But you could also pitch brands if you wanna work with brands. 

And then the second way is to actually have products and services, whether that is your own merch or you’ve got courses, or you’ve got physical products, or you’ve got consulting. 

Whatever it is you wanna offer, you just wanna get clear on what that journey is.

It could be one or two, or it could be them both. 

But get clear on that and then start creating content so that way you can get your desired result, which is making a hundred thousand dollars.

There’s so much happening in the TikTok world, especially for businesses.

Moving on, we’re talking about Chipotle on TikTok, whether you love Chipotle or not.

If you don’t love Chipotle, I’m pretty sure you’re not gonna make it to heaven.

I’m pretty sure Jesus is in heaven ordering Himself a bowl with brown rice and fajitas and chicken, and He’s asking for extra guac. 

I am convinced that Jesus is a Chipotle fan. 

So we all know Chipotle and a lot of us love Chipotle.

A lot of times we don’t really see Chipotle advertising on TV or anything like that. 

And I can’t say that Chipotle advertises a whole lot on TikTok, but they do spend time advertising on TikTok. 

Today we’re not talking about Chipotle advertising on TikTok. 

We are talking about what has happened with Chipotle because of TikTok and something that’s gonna happen in the month of March.

And so here’s what happens. 

There’s a guy on TikTok that everybody is obsessed with, me included, and his name is Keith Lee. 

He is a food critic in Vegas where he goes around to restaurants and he reviews food.

Lately, he’s been going around to struggling restaurants, reviewing their foods and helping them with the marketing push because his videos are getting millions and millions of views on them.

And then restaurants are being blown away by the traffic that they’re getting because of Keith. 

They learned about this thing from somebody on TikTok, her name is Alexis, that she started going to Chipotle and asking for and so then she told him about it and they decided to go to Chipotle.

He went to Chipotle, ordered the item and he came back and reviewed it and he was hooked. 

And those of us that watched Keith, we were all like, I’m going to Chipotle!

I don’t eat steak because my blood does not like red meat so I can’t do steak.

And then my body is like, Ma’am, push back on the dairy.

So I did not do it even though I really, really, wanna do it but I didn’t do it.

And so, everybody is running to Chipotle to get this. 

So Steak, Quesadillas with fajitas, and then you take their sour cream and their dressing. It’s like some kind of vinaigrette dressing.

You mix the sour cream and the vinegarette into one container, and then you dip the quesadilla. 

What has happened is that once, of course, Keith goes super viral, then the world is running to Chipotle. 

And so Keith decided to get with Alexis and they went to Chipotle together. 

But guess what?

Of course, Chipotle got wind of who in the world was doing what?

And now there’s a brand new menu item that is coming to Chipotle in the month of March. 

This is not an item that is on Chipotle’s menu, but because of the power of TikTok and millions of people seeing her videos and then the millions and millions seeing his video. 

And they’re all running to Chipotle.

And what does that mean for those content creators? 

They ought to be paid. 

PAID!

All that’s going down for them!

Can you imagine if that was you and you had people on TikTok talking about your product and your service? 

That is huge.

So think about it, when was the last time you’ve gone to a restaurant and you said, can you give me a cheeseburger, but take off this and add this and add this? 

And they’re like, what? It’s not even something on the menu, but you order it and you love it. 

But can you imagine if you did that on TikTok and then now that brand is starting to pay you for it?

What ??

It reminds me of Jared from Subway, even though we all know he’s in prison now.

But Jared was the one who lost all that weight eating Subway. 

He became the spokesperson, the poster boy, the poster child for Subway. 

It became a thing for him. 

And so the same thing with a little boy with the corn.

So when I thought about this episode I wanted you to know about the power of the TikTok platform. 

That you are a business. 

You probably sell a service, you’re a coach or consultant, and you sell a physical product.

Creating content on the TikTok platform and inviting people that are already on TikTok to talk about your product or service is a huge thing that you can do for your business. 

And if Chipotle is willing to create a brand new item, then that means there is a significant amount of people that have and are requesting that item on a regular basis. 

Because brands don’t just change their entire menu for a creator. 

No, no, no. 

They do it because something magnificent, something humongous has happened. 

This is a very short episode, but I really wanted you to hear about someone who’s having crazy success on TikTok, which is Chipotle.

And so for you, if you are saying to yourself, I’m gonna use 2023 and I’m gonna use TikTok to grow my business

EP: 195 Chipotle & TikTok – The New Menu Item

Chipotle has a brand new menu item that’s coming, and it’s all because of TikTok! I’m really, really excited about it and so on this blog, we’re gonna talk

This is the ultimate checklist for TikTok if you want to grow your business.

In this blog, I’m gonna give you point by point of all the things you wanna have in place right before you film a video for TikTok.

First, you want to check your background for clutter because oftentimes when you film a video on TikTok and if your background is not clear or there are a lot of things going on, people will start getting distracted by what is happening in your video.

And you really want people focused on you and focus on the content.

So what I recommend you do is set up your phone, your camera, and then have it in selfie mode. 

And then when you see yourself on camera before you ever hit record, just start looking around. 

What I would do is I would kind of set things up and then start looking where I can look at my background on camera to make sure everything looks the way I want it to look, and then it’s time to film.

The second thing is you wanna have your hook. 

You wanna have that attention-grabbing thing that is going to stop the scroll. 

Now, let me explain. 

When people are on TikTok, they’re scrolling. 

They’re scrolling the feed before you feed to be entertained. 

And so if you want people to stop what they’re doing, stop the scrolling pattern, and actually watch your video then this is about your opening hook.

And so your opening hook is gonna do so much for you, not just what you say, but also could be the text on the screen. 

Oftentimes when I’m recording a video on TikTok, I have my hook that I say and also text on screen, which helps stop the scroll. 

This is why you see some creators who are just blowing up and going viral over and over again because something immediate in what they said or text on screen has stopped people from scrolling along to somebody else.

And the third thing is kind of obvious, but you wanna make sure that your camera lens is free from any kind of film or grease. 

Oftentimes we have our phones in our pockets or in our purses, or we’ve just been holding them and we don’t really realize that our camera roll actually has something over it.

And so a lot of times what we do is we just take the ends of our shirt to quickly clean the camera lens.

 And so that way your camera lens is free from whatever. 

Sometimes people don’t even realize this has happened until they have filmed it and then they’re like, “I’ve recorded this awesome video”.

And they’re like, “well, now you gotta film it again”. 

So make sure you check that.

Fourth, you wanna know what your call to action is. 

Now, you wanna know this before you ever start writing anything because the call to action is the goal for you, especially as a business.

You’re probably wanting somebody to buy something, link something, or follow.

And so you gotta know before you have your hook and what you’re doing in your video, what is going to be your call to action at the end of the video?

Yours could be “click the link on my bio”. 

It could be “grab my training”. 

It could be “follow me” or “comment below”. 

But know what it is before you start to film.

And the last thing is to know why somebody should watch a video from start to finish. 

The last thing you’re gonna wanna do is just be filming and you’re talking and talking.

Nobody really wants to watch a video when they feel like they have no idea what’s going on or where this video is going to end.

We all want to know what is happening? What can I expect? 

And I wanna watch it and I’ll watch it all the way through. 

But if you don’t know that, then people are watching your videos, they’re gonna be like, “what is going on”? 

And that’s not really the experience you want people to have with your video. 

Make sure you know what your ending is going to be.

Ultimate TikTok Checklist Before You Film

I used to think that people that speak in tongues were insane. 

I remember one time I was at a church and I felt like people were sounding like bees buzzing.

I really didn’t realize that speaking of tongues is a thing.

I didn’t realize that it was biblical and I definitely didn’t realize that I could speak in tongues. 

And so in this blog, we’re gonna talk about it.

So first of all, the question is, is speaking in tongues biblical? 

And so let’s first start off with three scriptures. 

The first one is Jude 1:20-21. 

But you, dear friends, by building yourself up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit.

What does praying in the holy spirit mean? 

And let’s just see what Dr. Google has to say:

To pray in the Holy Spirit then is to pray with the conscious awareness of God’s presence surrounding us and sanctifying both of us in prayer.

The Holy Spirit then helps us in prayer to recall who we are and to comprehend the grace of the Lord to whom we are praying.

Let’s go to 1 Corinthians 14:2. 

For anyone who speaks in a tongue, does not speak to people, but to God. Indeed no one understands them; They utter mysteries by the spirit. 

The last scripture we’re going to is Acts 2:4, All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as a spirit enabled them.

Okay, now I’m gonna give you some context about the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. 

They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 

All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 

So for me, when I first got into a relationship with God, I don’t think that our churches ever talked about speaking in tongues.

They just didn’t.

I think that I saw some different things maybe on TV.

Growing up, people spoke in tongues and me being like, “They’re weird”

Or being invited to a church maybe when I was younger and just being like, “This is dumb. This is crazy. It’s not really real. It’s a cult. People are faking it and all things”

I was in church for my whole life until I went to this other church, I think it was in 2008 or 2009.

And the first day I got to the church I was like, “this is awesome” because the church service was being led by the young adults.

They did it in a way that was, it was just incredible. 

I was in shock at how awesome it was. 

And so I joined the church immediately. I started hanging out with them, and one day while I’m hanging out with them, they were like, “all right, everybody prays in your heaven language” 

They’re all praying in tongues.

And I’m like, “what is going on?”

I don’t pray in tongues and I’m just holding their hands like, “I thought these people were cool. Why are they all acting so weird here?”

It was just so foreign to me. 

And I remember one Sunday I went up to go and actually met the pastor and somebody actually took me to go and meet somebody else to go and receive the Holy Spirit to pray in tongues.

And I was just like, no, I don’t wanna do that. 

No, I do not. 

And so I went up to the lady and she was praying with me, but I just felt I wasn’t getting it. 

It was like months later I’m in church and they have everybody stand up and the pastors say, “okay, everybody praying your heaven language”

And I’m standing there and everybody is praying in tongues except me.

It felt like except me. 

And I don’t even know what to do right now. 

So I just said, well, let me just try. 

I’m just standing there and I’m just trying, nobody’s saying anything, but some, a little bit starts to happen.

Then over time, the next couple of months or whatever, it becomes a thing for me. 

I didn’t really realize what had happened until I started having these supernatural experiences. 

Now, prior to that, I wasn’t having any kind of supernatural experiences, but then I started hearing things that I normally could not hear.

I started saying things to people that there was no way people would know that I would know a thing in order to say it. 

One time I was in church and I saw demons and I was just, I didn’t lose control in a way that I was scared. 

I lost control in a way I was having an out-of-body experience.

If that makes sense.

All of this started to happen after I started learning how to pray in tongues.

I started to realize that, “Oh, I think this is a thing. I think that this is really real” 

And there were times when the pastor would teach about praying and tongues.

He would teach about acts and talk and teach about people being filled with the Holy Spirit. 

And so, I had the thought like, “well, if this is real, how come nobody, no other church I’ve ever gone to, how come they don’t talk about this?”

I’ve been at this church and this church and this church.

How come nobody is talking about it? 

I don’t understand why nobody is talking about this. 

And my answer was that I don’t know. 

But now what I realize is that it’s not that everybody can’t do it, it’s not like every church can’t. Like people learn how to pray in their heaven language and get filled with the Holy Spirit.

What I’m learning is that some people, some leaders over churches don’t have had that encounter yet, so they haven’t experienced getting filled with the Holy Spirit so they can’t speak in tongues. 

And then the power of what happens as a result of that happening to them and then teaching it to their congregation.

And so I just started realizing, all this is a choice.

We’ve got the Bible and the Bible says, here are all these things that you can lay hands on dead people, and they’ll raise up, that people that can’t walk will be able to, to walk again, that people that can’t see will be able to see again.

So all of that is in the Bible. 

And what I’m learning is that some people believe the whole thing and go after the whole thing. 

And then some people say, well, “we’re just gonna focus on this” 

But everybody has access to that big old Bible.

We all have access to it, but just some people are choosing to just focus on this.

And so if you have been in experiences where you’ve only focused on this amount, then this is why you’re only getting that and why you’re not getting that whole experience with God. 

But if you want to have it, you can have it.

I remember before I ever got any of this stuff, I don’t know if I believe in angels.

I don’t know if I believe in Jesus. 

I’ve been in church my whole life and I believe in God. I would always say in Jesus’ name, but I struggled with Jesus. 

Like how is Jesus born of a virgin and like God for our sins? 

Like what, how does that, what is going on? 

And I started being very curious and being if this is real, then show me. Jesus, show me.

I remember one night I had moved this girl into my house because she had lost her mom, and she came to my door and was like, “here, I got something for you” 

And she handed me a book about angels and I was like, “What?” 

And she goes, “God told me to give this to you”

And I was like, “Oh my God” 

And so I read this book, it’s like Chicken Soup of the Soul Angels or something like that.

It’s really good. 

And I read this book and I was just in shock hearing all the stories of people encountering angels. 

Then another lady at church handed me a book about angels and I was just in shock.

I think it was like a year or so later, Chelsea came to my room and said, “here, God told me to give you this” 

And she has given me the movie, the Passion of Christ. 

I had never seen the Passion of Christ. 

I wanted to see it, but I was so afraid to watch it because I had heard about people and their experiences just crying and all that from the passion of Christ.

So then one day I just sat up in my room and watched the Passion of Christ. 

And that was very hard to watch for sure. 

But it was very, very good. 

And I started to just realize that, all of my curiosity, God was meeting me in my curiosity and He was using other people, to teach me things, to lead me to things, to educate me so I could be open.

And I remember when I was at this church and I was so depressed after going to divorce, I was so sad. 

And they just kept, like, they would come up to me all the time and just hug me and love on me and kiss on me. 

And I was like a rock and I just would not break.

And then eventually I kind of started to break, and then they just kept praying over me that I would just be filled with joy. 

Now, the crazy thing that they didn’t know was that I had this little black, I call this my little black book of questions.

And in this little black book, I had written right after my divorce, “God, can you please give me joy because I don’t have any”

I wrote that and then years, a couple of years later, everybody’s praying for me for joy and they just keep praying for me. 

And fast forward, it’s been how long I’ve been a divorce, couldn’t tell you for a long time.

And the number one thing people say to me is “Keenya, you are just so joyful.” 

Somebody came up to me on Sunday and she said, “as soon as you come into the room, everything changes”

And I was just like, “I don’t see that” 

And she was like, “you don’t understand. Every time I see you, I feel so happy. And she said it, everywhere you go you are giving people that joy” 

I’m always in awe because I still have the little black book that says, God, please give me joy coz I don’t have any. 

And realizing that, hey, if you stay curious and you’re asking God to like help me in these. He’s gonna do all that.

But all of that happened once I got, you know, filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. 

So the short version of this is speaking in tongues is Biblical!

Absolutely!

You can go back to those scriptures that I gave you and you get to just have a conversation with God directly.

Instead of just relying on only the Bible and relying only on what the pastor is teaching, talk to God directly, and ask Jesus if speaking in tongues is Biblical. 

If it is, can you please encounter me? Talk directly to me.

Give me an experience and then you be open to it. 

I guarantee you, you’re gonna be invited to somebody’s church and somebody’s gonna be laying hands, praying. 

People are gonna be speaking in tongues and you’re gonna be like, and don’t be closed off to it.

Be open to it. 

If you really are like, I want all the Bible things to be open to it.

I have done so much stuff in the last five years that I thought was just crazy, and now I’m just, this is everything.

This is life.

One of the things that are happening in my life right now is I have fibroids in my belly, so I’m technically needing to have surgery.

But every single time they say, does anybody need prayer for anything?

I raised my hand, to believe in God for miracles, for them to disappear.

And so last night they asked, does anybody need prayer for anything? 

And I just raised my hand, and the lady came out to me, and she was just like, what’s going on?

I told her about my stomach. I said, my stomach sits out here, but that’s not really my stomach.

These are like gross that are on my uterus. 

She was just like, oh my God. 

And so she starts praying over my belly then she starts singing over my belly. 

Then she was just going at my belly and I’m just standing here like, you go right ahead, lady.

Because just weeks prior, we knew about a lady who had stage four cancer, and her son was praying for her, had a church, praying for her. 

Fast forward, she’s cancer free, and I said, well if God can disappear her cancer tumors, he can deal with these fibroids in my belly. 

He may do it through Supernatural.

He may do it through the doctors.

My prayer is I wanna see Him make Him disappear.

But I’m allowing myself to be open to this.

And not like, I’m not gonna say, if He doesn’t do it, then He’s not a good God.

I’m just staying open.

I’m going to all of my doctor’s visits, I’m doing all the things a doctor’s say, and every time they call for healing, your girl is raising her hand. 

Because I’m like, I’m in an environment that believes in it, and if God wants to do it, we gonna let Him go ahead and do it. 

That’s like if they say, does anybody want a house?

I’m gonna raise my hand and if somebody wants to give me a house, then they can go ahead and give me a house. 

Just saying.

Is Speaking in Tongues Biblical

I used to think that people that speak in tongues were insane. I remember one time I was at a church and I felt like people were sounding like

So TikTok is making certain brands go viral?

That is what is happening and has come out since all of this new having to share with the whole world and the US government what is going on with TikTok. 

And it is official that there is a thing on TikTok now called the heat button that everyone is talking about in the marketing world and it is on every single website known to man.

It’s always been there for them as a corporation but we are learning about it.

It’s all this disclosure that has had to come out with TikTok. 

So when I heard this and when I started reading all the articles about all this, my initial feeling was okay.

I wasn’t upset. I wasn’t surprised.

I think that the more that I had posted about this on TikTok and invited my community to engage with me, I think that a lot of people are very upset and very frustrated and it’s just more of the, the stuff was just coming out.

Because I know TikTok had a big problem with its algorithm but it was programmed to favor certain types of people.

Certain races of people, body types, age, and all that type of stuff.

It was programmed algorithmically to do certain things and so many people have been so upset about it.

And back in 2020, I think TikTok actually got sued because of some things.

I don’t know all the details, but I’m pretty sure TikTok got sued about some of that. 

And so now, with it all coming out, there is this thing called the heat button, and they can press a button and make certain brands go viral. 

They can make certain content creators go viral.

I think it’s just upsetting people, even more, but I wanted to talk about it just shortly, just about it as a business. 

When I think about it as a business, not as a person that creates content. 

If TikTok for example, in 2020, a lot of us that are in the older generation, came over to TikTok because we were all bored in the house and we were like quarantine, covid and all that type of stuff.

And so TikTok then got this huge amount of people that came to the app that were not normally there. 

And with that, there was this opportunity for advertising or advertisers. 

There’s this opportunity for TikTok to make more money than they’ve ever made. 

But they had some issues and one of the major issues that they had was businesses and brands were looking at this app.

These dancing teenagers are not our target audience. 

“This is not what we wanna do.”

“Why would we spend money here?”

And so I think that one of the reasons why TikTok started doing this for brands is to show them the power of TikTok.

To show people the power of TikTok.

So for example, I’m not saying this happened with this particular company, but I’m just gonna give you an example. 

So my example is Chipotle. 

Let’s just say that TikTok has been caught in Chipotle trying to get Chipotle to come and advertise on TikTok.

And Chipotle is like, No we’re not doing that.

And then TikTok can have a conversation with Chipotle and go, listen, if you spend X amount of dollars with us, not only will you pay and you’ll get what you pay for. 

But we’re also gonna make some of your videos go viral. 

And so that way you can see the power of what happens when a video goes viral on TikTok.

And I could see a brand saying, yeah, I will pay 10,000, 20,000, whatever the number is to advertise and to also experience what happens when you go viral on TikTok. 

And I could see a brand exploding on TikTok and being, Oh, I didn’t realize that this is what could happen as a result of going viral on the TikTok platform.

And so I could see it’s in Tiktok’s best interest, and do something like that. 

This also reminds me of why they would do it to certain creators. 

Because if you bring a ton of people to a platform and everybody is going, they’re going viral and they’re telling everybody all about TikTok, then guess what?

That’s gonna attract more people and more people and more people to the platform because of the virality of what’s happening to people when they come on TikTok. 

Now do I think that it’s unethical? 

No, I don’t think so

I think it’s unethical if TikTok is only doing it for certain demographics, like certain races and ages, and body types.

I think that would be a huge problem. 

But if it’s more like, Hey, we found these ABC creators, ABC businesses, and we’re doing this to get people to advertise and whatever. 

I don’t think that’s unethical. 

I think that that is their choice because it’s their business.

So, that’s like me.

I am a coach and consultant and I teach businesses how to market their businesses online using short-form videos and especially TikTok. 

Let’s just say I met Janet Jackson or whatever. 

I could easily say, well, Janet, I normally charge this amount of money to do this, but I will only charge you X amount and I will make sure that I give you all of these ways to go viral 

And we’ll get you to go viral and we’ll sell out your concert or whatever in exchange for you talking about me on all of your social media, talking about me in your videos and you’re doing whatever, that helps me get more clients. 

That’s not unethical. 

It’s my business and I can do whatever it is I wanna do. 

And the same thing goes for TikTok. 

TikTok can do whatever it wants to do.

It’s just unfortunate when you’ve got people that TikTok is not doing this too, that TikTok is not doing this for.

And so when we find out about it, it’s like, that’s a hot mess express. 

And so, nobody likes that. Nobody enjoys that. 

I know that, I don’t.

And so, I just say all that to say that yes, it is unfortunate that we are all experiencing that we’re all hearing about this TikTok heat map or what have you. 

And it’s unfortunate that a lot of us are not experiencing the benefits of this heat map, but do I think that it is a good thing that TikTok does this?

Yeah, I think that.

It’s a great way to get people onto the platform and all that type of stuff. 

Do I love the fact that it’s all being exposed? 

Absolutely. 

Because now we can understand why this happened here and why this has happened there. 

And I think that the more that TikTok is really called out on the carpet on their stuff and forced to disclose all the things that they’re doing and why they’re doing it’s gonna make it more of a safer space where people want to be on the app because everything is like fully disclosed.

And I think that the US government will be like, okay, obviously you can stay in the United States as long as we have these restrictions or whatever. 

So I just wanted to share that with you guys. 

Now, if you are somebody and you’re thinking, should I still get on TikTok?

Absolutely. 

Just because they’re not pushing a heat button to your content does not mean that you can’t reach your audience there.

On a regular basis, we get hundreds and thousands of leads into our business absolutely free. 

Every single day that I market on TikTok, we’re either offering a product or service someone makes a purchase or somebody opts into our email list and makes a purchase later. 

Absolutely free. 

And the amount of reach that we get on TikTok is second to none. 

The amount of reach we get on TikTok has killed every other single platform. 

We use all the other platforms too, but we generate more traffic and more leads to our business from TikTok absolutely free than we do anywhere else organically.

#194 Why TikTok Is Making Certain Brands Go Viral

So TikTok is making certain brands go viral? That is what is happening and has come out since all of this new having to share with the whole world

How to gain 50,000 followers on TikTok in 24 hours!

So I actually helped a client gain over 50,000 followers on TikTok in 24 hours. 

And I wanna show you exactly how we did it. 

One of the first things we did was we did a search on the TikTok platform to see what was already working well on the platform.

So, my client had a particular niche, and so we searched her particular niche, to see what was working. 

Once we could see a theme with the different videos on the platform, we decided to write a very short, short script on what to do in her video. 

We also decided to use trending audio and then keep her video very, very short, meaning it was about seven to eight seconds. 

So then we started actually testing the different videos on the platform with certain hooks, and then one of the videos went crazy viral. 

I mean, this video got like 1.3 million views in three days. 

But I know the question is, can anyone go viral on TikTok?

And the answer is absolutely!

Because of virality, what that means is that 1 million people have chosen to watch this content. 

That means that thousands and thousands of people shared your video with people. 

They tagged people. 

And so, if your content is good and for a particular group of people, you are guaranteed an opportunity to be able to go viral on TikTok.

But I also know that business owners ask themselves like, well, what do we do after we go viral? 

Well, one of the things you wanna do is engage with people in the comments. 

So, because when you go viral, people are gonna be asking you questions and commenting, and if you sell a product or service, and people are asking about it.

Well, here’s an amazing opportunity to talk to your audience. 

You can either comment on everybody’s comment. 

You can either ask some of them to actually send you a DM on TikTok. 

That way you’re able to have private conversations with them 

And you might be able to actually write a comment in the feed and then pin it to the top of your video. 

That way when people come to your profile and come to that particular video, they can see that. 

But also, one of the tricks I gave, one of my recent clients that made a hundred thousand dollars from one video is she actually did a reply video to a comment that was on the viral video.

So what does that mean? 

So the video went viral and somewhat asks this question of how can we work with you? 

And people ask all types of questions, but that one was guaranteed to help and to allow to create a secondary video that’s connected to the first video and her answering that question. 

So she did what’s called a reply video to that comment, which created a brand new video and she talked about how you can work together.

And so that particular video, she actually made that a pinned video on her profile. 

So I know you’re like, what do you mean?

For example, so you’ve got this video that is going viral and everybody’s watching, watching, and watching.

But in that particular video, you may not necessarily be giving the offer of how they can work with you.

So you can actually go to that video, find a comment, click on the comment, and then do what’s called a reply video. 

Now that video is gonna be the first video on your feed. 

And then this is where you can answer how someone can work with you. 

And you can pin that video to the top of your profile.

That’s gonna allow people, the moment that they see this particular video that’s already going viral and they come to your profile, that video is gonna be the first thing that they see.

And that gives them the call to action that you may not have done in the viral video. 

And so a lot of times people will say, well, will gaining, 10,000, 20,000 followers changed my life overnight

Possibly!

Now, sometimes you just gain a bunch of followers and that’s it.

But sometimes you gain a bunch of followers and they’re actually your target customer who choose to make a purchase from you. 

Opt into your emails or email list or something like that.

I know from me personally, the first time I went viral, it did not change my life. 

It got me 10,000 new followers, but it did not get me 10,000 new customers. 

The second time I went viral, I was very intentional about my calls to action, and I ended up getting thousands of people to join my email list.

And then hundreds of those people actually purchased my product and service.

One of those videos that I went viral with actually sold my book like crazy on my website and on Amazon.

So, did it change my life?

No, but it definitely gave me more free leads and made me money in my business. 

But a lot of our clients have made a significant amount of money selling their products and services, so it can change your life.

How to gain 50,000 followers on TikTok in 24 hours! So I actually helped a client gain over 50,000 followers on TikTok in 24 hours.  And I wanna show

Understanding the gifts of the spirit can feel very overwhelming. 

It can feel foreign. It can feel fake. 

If you’ve ever seen that movie, My Blue Heaven, where there’s like a fake prophet, it could feel like this is all fake. 

Or the ones when you see Benny Hinn and people pass out when he speaks into the mic.

When a lot of people think about the gifts of the spirit, they can feel like it’s just phony and fake. 

So on our topic today, I really wanna talk to you about understanding and discerning and the gifts of the spirit. 

I often tell you guys that I did not grow up this way. 

I grew up feeling like that people that speak in tongues are crazy and that it’s a cult.

That people that say they hear God are just faking to get people to give them money, that is how I grew up. 

I’m not saying that’s what our pastor taught us. 

I’m just saying that it is just what I believe based upon whatever my experiences have been, and whatever it is I’ve been doing, that has been my experience.

And so it was not until I got filled with the Holy Spirit when I went to a non-denominational church in 2008.

I really started to experience people that were operating in the gifts of the spirit.

And I won’t even lie to you. I was freaked out.

I was really, really creeped out in this church, but I was also so curious and I kind of loved it, like a part of me loved it, part of me hated it.

But I think the curious part of me actually loved it. 

And so as a result of being in this church for a while and then getting prayer and receiving the gifts of speaking in tongues, being filled with the Holy Spirit, I started having these different experiences.

And so anytime that I am trying to help somebody understand what is happening as it pertains to understanding the gifts of the spirit, I always let people know that I’m just like them. 

That I came from whatever my background was, whatever your background is, and not believing or knowing that this stuff exists and this stuff is real.

So let’s get into it. 

So one of the first things to know about discerning, or the gifts of the spirit in general is that it’s really important for you to first go to the Bible. 

 

Let’s go onto what are the gifts of the spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11

4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

So you have the gift of wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, the gift of speaking in tongues and interpreting tongues.

So that’s seven! There’s seven gifts of the spirit. 

Now, I know you’re probably saying, “well, they’re only given to special people”

No, this doesn’t say anything about this being given to special people. 

It says it is given to people.

Brothers and sisters, I want you to know about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. 

You know that at one time you were unbelievers, you were somehow drawn away to worship statues and without the help of the Holy Spirit, no one can say Jesus is Lord.

So these gifts, these kinds of gifts, are given to the believers by the same spirit. 

So it’s by believers, not just the pastor or the special lady with the special clothes? 

No, this is given to us but it’s up to us to actually seek out what are the gifts that God has given us? 

And what does He want to give to us?

So when I first started on this journey, I would say that I didn’t have a gift of nothing. 

I’m sure it was always in me, but I would’ve said, I have a gift of nothing. 

Once I was a part of this church and then I started to get filled with the Holy Spirit. 

Like some things just started to happen.

I started having this belief that anything could happen. That anything was possible. 

Now, it’s not like I went from one day, not having any kind of faith to like the next day just having all faith for 10,000 men. 

But I just kind of started watching me have the courage to believe that they’re just have faith.

And so over the next year or so, people started saying, wow, you’ve got such big faith. 

And I’m like, I don’t have big faith.

I’m just trying. 

And I just kept trying different things. 

But what I started to realize and what I shared with you today is that one of the ways to discern the gifts of the spirit or that even in your own self is ask yourself, you can go back to your mom or your dad or whoever raised you.

If there is somebody that can tell you this and ask them, when you think about me, what, how would you describe me? 

Would you say that I’ve faith, I’m very smart, what would you say? 

But also if you’re in a church environment and you have pastors, leaders or what have you, you’re in a small group environment where people are getting to know you, you’re in fellowship with people.

Then I would just ask them, not saying they’re gonna pinpoint and say you are a prophet, but I just want you to just hear what other people are saying about you. 

For me, because people kept saying I had big faith, I started to go, “Do I have big faith?” 

And then I started to watch people who always come to me for prayer.

Not because I was the only person that could “get a prayer through” but because people just felt like I had such big faith.

And so the people would bring me all types of people that were just needing prayer for whatever. 

And so I started having this, oh, I think I have a gift of faith.

And so the more I’ve been in relationship with God and things of that nature, I hear all the time that I have the gift of prophecy and I hear that I have the gift of wisdom. 

Doesn’t mean I have all the gifts and you have none or whatever, but I’m just constantly hearing over and over again.

You got faith, a gift of wisdom and a gift of prophecy.

 But I would never have said it about myself. 

I would never have said I have the gift of prophecy by any means.

The first time I was in a class and they were teaching on prophetic gifts. 

I was freaking out, you know, I was like, Oh No.

They were like, everybody get up, choose a partner and everybody’s gonna prophecy. 

I said, Oh No. I said, if I prophesy and I get it wrong, I will never prophesy ever again. 

And so I sat down and the teacher said, it is perfectly okay because it was me protecting myself to make sure that I didn’t get it wrong and I wouldn’t do it again.

I was like, let me just be in this environment and learn and so that’s what I did. 

But nowadays I’m not scared to prophesy because I’ve gone through a couple years of school, learning how to hear God and how to share whatever it is that God is saying.

But as it pertains to discerning the gifts of the Spirit is, first of all, you’ve gotta get in an environment where they believe and they operate in them.

It’s hard to believe in the prophetic if your church or your community is, nobody talks about the gift of prophecy, nobody’s prophesying.

 It’s hard to believe that. 

It’s hard to believe that somebody can interpret tongues if people don’t speak in tongues at your church.

 It’s really, really hard to believe in that gift.

And so you’ve gotta get in an environment where people are actually operating with those gifts. 

I’m not saying the pastor has all the things, they’re always prophesying over you, but you’ve gotta get an environment because the more you’re in an environment, you start to be aware of things. 

For example, right now I live in an apartment and I’ve started the process of preparing to buy a home, and I had never thought about buying a home.

It wasn’t crossing my mind but now that it is crossing my mind, I am noticing a lot of for sale signs. 

I’m noticing different things about lending and borrowing. 

There’s certain things that are starting to come in that it’s always been there.

But I’m more aware of it because I’m in the process of learning about buying a home before I literally start that whole process or what have you.

And so like if you’re gonna learn how to discern, when God is talking to you, when a word of wisdom or a word of knowledge is in operation, when the prophetic, if you’re gonna notice when these things are happening, you’ve gotta get in those environments. 

For example, last night I taught a business class online.

And then I wanna get to my church because we were having what we call an encounter night.

Where we’re like worshiping and all the things because we’ve been on the 21 day fast. 

And as soon as I walked into the church, I walked into the regular building and then when I walked into the sanctuary, there was just this presence.

And when I was looking at everybody, you could just tell everybody had gotten to this place and it was, it wasn’t quiet, but worship was happening. 

But it was the Holy Spirit that was moving on everybody in that environment. 

And as I was walking up to put my purse down, I was just like, wow, what something is happening in here?

And I am so glad that I’m here, I put my purse down, and then I found somewhere to stand and I just stood there.

Just, Wow! What was happening in the room. 

Not to mention they had asked, was anybody needed healing for anything?

I raised my hand, people praying for me and then when they finished, one of the guys I was praying asked me to sit down and he just started talking to me like a dad.

And I’m having this moment of, okay, this is not a business talk. 

This is a dad talking to me. Let me listen in.

And when he started to pray, I was like, okay, let’s let him pray but then I can feel the sensitivity.

I can feel myself being sensitive to what was happening. 

And I just let myself cry and I said, okay, what is happening?

And one, I felt love.

And it wasn’t about the guy or his fantastic prayer.

It was, I just felt God’s love. 

I just felt his presence through that time of him being willing to pray for me. 

But you know, people pray for me all the time, but it’s like once you get in certain types of environments, you just sense things, you feel different things.

I pray for people all the time and it’s like when I’m praying for people, I start to sense certain things. 

I think it was one lady, we were all in worship and I was in the back and I was just worshiping. 

I could see this lady crying and praying for her son or whatever.

And I just like, I can just sense that I needed to go and hug her because I carry this joy and that it is just something that I carry.

And so I was just like, I just kept feeling the need to go and hug her, but I was like, I don’t wanna be weird.

And so eventually I went back to her, asked a couple questions, and I was like, can I give you a hug? 

And she said, yes and when I started to hug her, she just broke down crying.

And then I could just feel all of her pain and I couldn’t stop laughing. 

And so I was laughing and laughing.

And the more I laughed, the more she cried and she cried. 

And eventually she started to laugh. 

And you know, the Bible says that joy is like medicine. 

And so I’m like releasing joy to her and it’s breaking off all the heaviness that she’s feeling. 

And then eventually the heaviness is gone.

And now she’s able to laugh and then when the laughter stopped, I knew to let her go, and I let her go. 

And she goes, oh my God, I needed that so much. 

And I was like, Oh, Okay. 

I was sensing the gift, I was sensing this moment, it was this wisdom, this knowledge to go and do this thing with this person.

And when I did, she had an experience.

There was another guy we were praying for him, everybody was praying for everybody and I just touched him and I could just feel like I just felt so loved. 

I felt like he just loved people so much and then I felt like he loved kids so much and I just kept touching his heart and I was just like, oh my God, you’ve got a father’s heart.

It is so beautiful. 

And I could not let go of this guy’s heart and I didn’t know who he was. 

Well, a week later I’m in a session where I agreed to volunteer at the children’s church. 

It’s the children’s pastor! 

And I did not know you were the children’s pastor.

He goes, well, I knew when you were praying. 

I said, but I didn’t know who you were and so for me it was like I was sensing that, but I couldn’t have gotten that if I was not in that kind of environment. 

So this is not me telling you that you need to leave your church.

It might be, but I’m not saying you need to go and leave your church. 

What I am saying is that if your desire is to be a part of 1 Corinthians 12 and be operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, then you have got to get an environment where people are talking about the gifts, where people are operating in the gifts.

A lot of people don’t really realize it, that all of us can actually prophecy. 

We’re not all called to the office of a prophet, but we can all prophesy.

What does that mean? 

That means that God can speak to all of us and speak to another person or  everybody because it’s just like a relationship.

It’s like if you have a relationship with God, he can talk to you and then he can call out.

So last night, I was teaching a webinar on how to prepare your business before you go viral.

 And there was a lady during the QandA and she said, she does what she does. 

She’s an Uber driver and she does car karaoke as an Uber driver. 

And she’s got like 200,000 followers on TikTok.

And she was asking me, she said, do you think I should start a course on how people can be Uber drivers? 

And as she said it, I felt it in my spirit, God was like, No, she’s not gonna create a course.

And I said, No, I don’t think you should create a course. 

And I started talking to her about being an influencer.

And as I started saying those words, I couldn’t feel any electric shocks.

Like the Holy Spirit saying, stay right there and say that. 

And I said, Oh, I feel the Holy Spirit on this. 

And I said it out loud and I said, this is how I see, this is what you could be doing and God is saying, and I just started telling her on this webinar with all these business people.

And I was like, and you could get sponsored by this brand and this brand and this brand.

And everybody in the whole room was, What is going on? 

I was just telling her, this is what God is saying that you should do. 

And so, but I don’t know if she’s ever been in a prophetic environment. 

I don’t know that. 

But she paid for the webinar, so she got what God had for her.

And so that’s the same thing that can happen to you and that kind of environment, but it’s also how you can happen to other people because we could be anywhere and anything happened. 

That’s one I wanna say because I can go on and on and on about this topic.

But if you wanna learn about the gifts of the Holy Spirit and you wanna be able to discern them, you’ve gotta get an environment that is going to help you and equip you. 

I did two years of ministry school. 

I did three months of a dream interpretation class, biblical. 

I watched all these videos, these CDs, these DVDs for like a couple years of learning, understanding dreams.

I’ve done all this stuff and I continue to do all this stuff because if I won’t be in this life forever, then I wanna constantly be in communion with all this. 

In addition, the bible identifies 25 different spiritual gifts that are still in operation today, and it may be surprising to you, but one or some may also lie within YOU!
